NAGI is the largest national body of Geographers in the country, and presently it has more than 2950 life members. It was established in 1978, with its headquarters in the Department of Geography, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. Annals of the National Association of Geographers, India (ISSN: 0970-972X) is a national journal (UGC-CARE Listed) publishes on all matters concerning the study of geography and allied disciplines. Every year the Association organizes Indian Geography Congress at different universities in India. Apart from Indian Geography Congress, the Association occasionally organizes International Geography Congress

The 46th Indian Geography Congress, which is being organized at the Department of Geography, Osmania University, Hyderabad, should become a platform for dialogue, collaborative programs, and the exchange of ideas. NAGI encourages the researchers to contribute to emerging research areas, not limited to climate change, water resources, food security, sustainability, health, cultures and civilization for human development, disaster management, vulnerability analysis etc. in the context of global change and Earth System Governance.

Nomination for Selection of Fellows:

NAGI Secretariat invites nominations for the selection of Fellows. The nomination should Include a detailed CV and consent letter of the proposed candidate. The proposed fellow should be an eminent geographer. NAGI Fellow includes Late Prof. M. Shafi, Late Prof. R. P. Misra, Late Prof. L. S. Bhat, Late Prof. A. Buttimer and Late Prof. P. Dayal.

NAGI Volumes:

NAGI has decided to bring out the volumes: (1) India: Land, People and Economy; (2) State of India’s Natural Resources (15 Volumes). Interested contributors should contact Prof. S. C. Rai, Editor.

Collection of Previous Volumes of the Annals:

The life members may collect the previous issues of the Annals (2007 to 2017) from R. K. Books, 4215/1 Ansari Road, Darya Ganj, New Delhi-110002 (Mobile: 9312654192). From 2018 onwards, e-prints may be availed from Prints Publications Pvt. Ltd. (https://www.printspublications.com/).

NAGI Directory:

NAGI Secretariat is bringing out an updated e-directory of all the life members for wider dissemination and benefit to researchers and students. NAGI Awards

Prof. N.P. Aiyyar Young Geographer’s Award, 2024

This award has been instituted by NAGI and is restricted to members who are qualified Geographers within the age limit of 35 years at the time of submission of the paper. The paper should be an original research contribution and submitted in 3 copies to the Secretary General, NAGI, so as to reach the Secretariat by November 15, 2024 by registered post/courier. The paper should be written in English, Hindi language only. The participant should also submit his/her detailed resume (3 copies) and proof of age.

An Expert Committee will be appointed by NAGI to evaluate the paper contributed and to shortlist five best papers among them. The five best papers will be presented in a special session at IGC and one among them would be finally selected for the Young Geographer’s Award. The awardees will be honoured with a cash award of Rs. 1000/- and a certificate of merit.

Prof. Adya Sharan Young Women Geographer’s Award, 2024

This award has been instituted by NAGI and is restricted only to women members who are qualified Geographers within the age limit of 40 years as of November 15, 2024. The applicant (must be the first author/sole author) should submit the best three research papers published in Scopus/Present UGC-Care listed journals. The applicant should also submit CV, affiliation details, proof of Date of Birth and copies of academic mark sheets and certificates from under-graduation to PhD/Post-doc in chronological order. The softcopy of the application package, along with a cover letter, must be submitted to the Secretary General, NAGI, through email latest by November 15, 2024.

An Expert Committee appointed by NAGI will evaluate the applications. The 1st Prize winner will receive Rs. 5,000/- in cash, a Certificate and 3 AC return train fare. The 2nd Prize winner will receive Rs. 2,500/- in cash, a Certificate and 3 AC return train fare

Professor Bandaru Hema Malini Eminent Geographer Award, 2024

This award has been instituted by NAGI and is restricted to members who are qualified Geographers. The nomination paper should reach the NAGI Secretariat by November 15, 2024 by registered post/courier.

Prof. R P Misra Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement in Regional Development and Planning, 2024

This award is being introduced this year by NAGI to honour senior geographers who have extensively contributed to Regional Development and Planning. The nomination paper should reach the NAGI Secretariat by November 15, 2024, by registered post/courier.
